Policy of the Notice to Mariners Service

Area Covered

The Notice to Mariners’ service on this site is confined to an Area of The Wash to Dover and then over the Channel to cover the coast between Boulogne to the Hook of Holland.  Only the entrance to the Westerschedte is covered.  A link is provided to the UKHO site displaying current radio navigational warnings.  Note that this may not include certain notices added locally.

This page is compiled by crossingthethamesestuary.com for readers convenience using weekly UK Hydrographic Office Notices to Mariners.  The page will show the current date of Notices included.  Each notice will indicate the UKHO and Imray charts affected by the notice. This includes UKHO and Imray Leisure Folios.

There are three services:

1.   Area service

All permanent notices to mariners from the UKHO site are retained back to January 2013..  For quick reference and convenience the notices are split into seven areas.  The areas and the UKHO Chart Nos that are monitored by Crossing The Thames Estuary are:

The Wash to Blakeney

Blakeney to Orfordness

Orfordness to Frinton

Frinton to Havengore

Havengore to Ramsgate

Mid-Estuary

Boulogne to Hook of Holland

These correspond to the following Admiralty Charts:

 2.   Chronological Service of Admiralty Notices

All past years notices from 2014 are archived for access whilst the current year is uploaded on a weekly basis usually on a Monday evening.   Where possible a useful image of the correction will be provided which will be downloadable together, where originating from the UKHO, a copy of the original notice.  Notices between 2010 and 2012 are now archived off-line.

3.   Temporary or Preliminary Notices to Mariners

This table shows temporary or preliminary notices currently in force as issued by the UKHO, Trinity House, Harbour Authorities or Wind Farm construction companies.

Chart Corrections Page

This page provide links direct to the notices issued by Imray and for the UKHO Leisure charts. Inevitably there is a delay in the update of these notices are they do not happen simultaneously with the weekly issue of notices by the UKHO.  The page also provides links to Trinity House and Harbour Authority notices to mariners pages.
